Further information
If you are experiencing insomnia, Sleepstation may be able to help.
In the UK, including through NHS-commissioned services, Sleepstation CBTi is provided as a regulated medical device that delivers sleep support for insomnia and insomnia symptoms. We start with a detailed assessment week so we can understand your sleep difficulties and any factors that might affect your care. Your plan is then tailored to your needs and supported by our team throughout.
Most people who complete the UK programme see a marked improvement in sleep over three to four sessions, usually within four weeks, although results vary from person to person.
For people accessing our wellness programmes outside the UK, we provide self-guided tools and resources designed to support better sleep habits, but these are not medical devices and are not intended to diagnose or treat a medical condition.
Sleepstation isn’t available on the NHS everywhere. It’s available in some parts of the UK. We can provide funding to help NHS patients living in areas where our NHS service isn’t available. If you live in one of these areas and would like to discuss funding options please call 0333 800 9404 or email funding@sleepstation.org.uk.
Sleepstation CBTi uses proven cognitive and behavioural methods, along with personalised guidance, to help you understand your sleep and make meaningful changes over time. You’ll start by sharing information about your sleep patterns and routines so we can build a personalised plan for you. As you move through the programme, you’ll receive ongoing guidance and encouragement to help you apply the techniques and stay on track.
Sleepstation CBTi is based on the methods used in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I has been studied for decades and is recommended by organisations such as NICE as the first-line approach for persistent insomnia. It focuses on changing the habits, thoughts and routines that keep sleep difficulties going and helping you build healthier, more sustainable sleep patterns.
Sleepstation CBTi is built around the cognitive and behavioural methods used in cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-I). CBT-I is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and the American Academy of Sleep Medicine as the first-line approach for persistent insomnia.
CBT-I has been studied for decades, with a large and consistent evidence base showing improvements in sleep quality, insomnia symptoms and long-term outcomes. Historically, access to CBT-I has been limited because only a small number of specialist services provide it, which is why digital delivery has become an important way to widen access.
Sleepstation’s NHS-delivered CBTi programme has been evaluated in several large real-world studies. These evaluations have shown meaningful improvements in sleep for most people who complete the programme (>80%), including better sleep quality, reduced insomnia symptoms and improved daytime functioning.
You can read more about the evidence behind CBTi and Sleepstation’s impact here.
The regulations that govern who can and can’t receive free NHS treatment are complex and may change. If you’re unsure if you’re entitled to receive NHS treatment please check before starting the referral process.
A person who is regarded as ordinarily resident in the UK may be eligible for free NHS treatment. Anyone coming to live in this country would qualify as ordinarily resident. Overseas visitors to the UK are not regarded as ordinarily resident if they do not meet this description.
Once we receive your GP referral, we’ll contact you to let you know and help you get started. We aim to contact everyone within two working days. If it has been more than two weeks since you saw your GP and you haven’t heard from us, please get in touch.
