New NHS blueprint suggests digital leadership shifts from ICBs to providers

Health tech leaders and industry experts have responded to the new NHS blueprint which suggests digital leadership responsibilities are shifted from ICBs to healthcare providers.

Our CEO and Founder, Alison Gardiner shared her thoughts with Building Better Healthcare on proposed changes and what’s needed to ensure progress isn’t lost in the process. Here’s what she said:

“At Sleepstation, we welcome the intention to empower neighbourhood health teams and bring care closer to communities.
Providers who have invested time building trusted partnerships and proving their models locally (and delivering meaningful outcomes at scale) should be well placed to deliver this ambition.
But the transition is likely to be messy and the human impact on those working within ICBs will be significant.
Unfortunately, the disruption also risks slowing or even derailing progress.
It is vital that digital care models already delivering for patients are recognised as exemplars: human-supported digital care services (like Sleepstation) are a prime example.
There is a real risk that this transition will prioritise new pilots over building on proven solutions, creating further fragmentation rather than coherence.
Digital care works best when embedded into joined-up pathways. Integration must be prioritised, so digital innovation continues to reach the communities who need it most, without being delayed or diminished by structural change.”
